I recently got back from a much needed vacation and had the most amazing time. I visited Washington DC for the first time, and took a road trip from there to New York. And even though I only stayed in NY for a day, it’s a day I will never forget.
While in DC, besides seeing museums, Capitol Hill, The White House, and the many memorials, I had the chance to go to Sticky Fingers Bakery. This place was great! I had one of the best vegan Philly burgers I’ve ever had in my life. It was so juicy and delicious that I can’t wait to visit DC again just to go back to this place.
I also bought 3 cupcakes: Peanut Butter Fudge, Chocolate Love, and Red Velvet. All vegan of course, and crazy good. Even the frosting was incredible and I’m not a big fan of frosting to be honest.
Since New York is one of my favorite places in the world and it’s so close to DC, I thought “Why not go visit, even if it is for one day?” So my friend Benny and I took a bus ride from DC to The Big Apple just because, and had the best time there.
While in NY, I went shopping in the City, had lunch in Brooklyn, visited my family in Queens, and went to a Yankees game in the Bronx. Yup! All that in one fun-filled day.
But let me just tell you about my lunch. I went to this great vegan restaurant called MOB with a friend I met via the Power To The Veg Facebook group I’m a part of. I was lucky enough to meet a member of the group, Mr. Aris Laureano, and have one of the most delicious vegan meals I’ve ever had.
For starters we had a corn soup with popcorn, and we shared a Quinoa salad that was to die for.
For our entrees, Aris had a pasta dish and I had a vegan burger with Yucca Fries. Yes, another burger. Don’t judge me! Lol! Vegan burgers are da bomb!
For dessert Aris had a cheesecake and I had a chocolate cake. We did poke at each others desserts though. I think he ended up liking my cake more than his own. And I will admit I did like the cheesecake more than my cake.
At the end I could barely breathe after eating everything I did, but it was all so good that I didn’t care. I definitely left this place with a smile on my face.
After my vacation was over I was left with a yearning for more. More vegan food, more new places, more new people. I had such a great time that I can’t wait for my next trip.
Next month I’ll be in Puerto Rico, my home at heart. I will definitely let you all know about the vegan goodies I find there. So till next time… Buen provecho!
